JJ Cole was originally making Carriages through the Cole Carriage company until 1908 when he came up with the solid tire Cole High Wheeler with his engineer, Charles Crawford (Crawford later went to Stutz). They sold about 170 of these before Cole decided that this style auto was going no where and he instead developed the Cole series 30. The Cole High Wheeler had a wheel base of 90 inches and a 2 cylinder 14HP engine. It was originally thought that there were no Cole High Wheelers known to exist still, however one was identified in December of 2018.
